Obama VS McCain- Why Obama is Better.

Why Obama is needed for change
One of my friends wrote me this and my rebuttals follow.

I’ll number these for easier rebuttal

1. His connections: Bill Ayers, communist/domestic terrorist. Multiple connections over the years. Nothing solid, but too friendly of a relationship between the two to allow me to trust Obama. Now lets talk about Rev. Wright’s relationship with Obama. Obama sat in Wright’s church for 20 years. Wright even married Obama and his wife. You don’t sit in a church for 20 years listening to the racist vomit that was coming out of Wright’s mouth unless you agree with it. Obama’s wife is a perfect example of the type of person that church produces.

1. Yeh, the relationship between Obama and Ayers is definitely not a solid one and the guy is a professor or Education these days. Obama was like 8 when Ayers was a political militant. If you want to say you can't trust Obama because he lived down the street from a former domestic terrorist, how the hell can you trust Bush and Cheney and Mccain or any republican for that matter? You know Cheney has obvious ties to all the people making the big bucks on the war in Iraq. They are all tied in with the corrupt industries, like oil.

John Mccain's connections and show of bad character include his reported infidelity. He met his current wife while married to his last one. The family that funded John Mccains rise to power made their money through organized crime. He is connected with all of the lobbyists (big oil, defense contractors) -- Obama talks about that all the time and says he hasn't gotten any money from these lobbyists.. Who do you think Mccain will owe favors to? The American People or his sponsors? I have a deep mistrust of these wealthy republicans. They don't give a crap about the common man. All they care about is money and power because most of them are wealthy and powerful. Have you noticed that most self-made men and women end up democrats?

Mccain didn't know how many houses he owned when he was asked by a reporter. How the hell can he possibly understand what it's like to bounce a check and wonder if you can afford to go to the doctors office to treat your sick child????
I know he served our country and suffered for it, but his track record is all in favor of the wealthy people, which constitute a very small percentage in the country.

I also think Rev. Wright is totally retarded, but I do agree with some controversial comments Obama has made "In a similar vein, Michelle Obama has said she is proud of America for the first time. Last week, Obama said Americans in small towns are “bitter” and cling in frustration to “guns, or religion, or antipathy to people who aren’t like them...”

I am from a small backward bitter town (my town in PA is like the poster child for what Obama was talking about and he was talking about PA when he said it!)
I have lived in five states now and the truth is that people from these small poor white towns (like mine) are depressed, uneducated and have no good job prospects. They ARE bitter. They have no power and they DO cling to force and guns and stuff like that. They think being a bully is the only way because they have no power themselves and thats how bullys work. They CAN'T handle diversity... I'm convinced most of this could be remedied if these people actually had an education and were exposed to different cultures growing up. When people do not have power, they turn to ways to make them feel powerful. Being racist makes them feel superior to SOMEONE, and thinking that their religion is more true than someone elses is just one more way to feel superior.

After the civil war, those really really poor white southerners turned their hatred full force on the blacks because now the blacks were their next door neighbors and these poor white people couldn't handle knowing that someone else (slaves) weren't "below" them anymore. And black people today in poor neighborhoods MAY target us with their hate because they may feel its our fault their there, but never forget that there is definitely a large segment of poor white people who act in the way I just described.

2. Free healthcare: Free healthcare doesn’t work. The quality of our doctors will drop, the quality of care will drop and the wait to get treatment will increase. Look at Canada, they may have cheaper drugs, but Canadians are all coming to the US to have actual procedures done.

2. It is true that Canadian healthcare is messed up, but just because one system of socialist healthcare didn't work, it doesnt mean another one won't. Americans need healthcare. The cost of healthcare is staggering BECAUSE OF INSURANCE COMPANIES and the pursuit of profit. This is a good little blog entry about it: http://leftinsf.com/blog/index.php/archives/1527 Look into WHY healthcare is so expensive and then you'll realize that this "free" system certainly isn't working for society either. Insurance companies are pocketing so so so much money. There has to be a way to make sure all people have access to healthcare.. Maybe a hybrid system. I know how scary it is to think you may not have healthcare and someday get a disease (like my cancer) back. One big reason for us to stay in the Navy is because healthcare is so expensive in the civilian world and I definitely need healthcare. I'm really scared that if we get out before he retires, I wont have healthcare when I most need it, or we'll go broke if I get sick. My dad and mom spent so much money when I got cancer. The bills were staggering, although they never would tell me what they spent. We don't need to give people top notch healthcare, but there should be more options for people, like students, who are trying to make it to a point in their lives where they can actually afford healthcare for themselves. Also, I've worked at a lot of minimum wage type jobs in the past four years that literally would give me 39 hours just so I wouldn't qualify for healthcare!!! Hawaii makes employers offer healthcare at 20 hours which is awesome, though. Imagine being a single mom trying to go to school and work to provide for your child and not being able to get healthcare.. You may not agree with girls having babies when they arent ready, but shit happens and I commend anyone trying to make a life for themself. And women are the ones who get stuck with a child if it does happen. I have a friend going through problems right now and my heart is breaking for her because she really cant afford to leave this asshole she is with because she cant afford to work and pay for daycare at the same time until she gets a college degree and makes more money! And how can she work, go to school and pay for daycare and take care of her child? Its a bad cycle that happens. You may say it's her fault, but I sympathize with girls like her.

3. Distribution of wealth: Obama has stated he wants it. That IS socialism (ie. communism). Obama’s campaign has an office in a neighborhood that I work. The neighborhood is called Sistrunk and it the most crime and disease ridden neighborhood in Ft. Lauderdale, where transvestite hooks and dope dealers walk the street in broad daylight. The office is set up in the dead center of this neighborhood at a place called the Four Corners. Why would he be fishing for votes in an area where the people don’t work, their homes are all paid for by government funds and nobody pays taxes? Everyone is looking for a handout and Obama is going to give it to them, even if it means taking it out of the working man’s (and woman’s) pocket. I don’t work my ass off so Joe Shit the rag man can sit on his ass all day and drink beer. Then when he gets cirrhosis of the liver I’ll be paying for his medical care. The United States is the “Land of Opportunity” not the “Land of Free Handouts.”

3. Distribution of wealth:
I just did a paper in English about how ideals of the pursuit of wealth and also individuality has caused our modern societies to be too focused on division, instead of unity. Everyone's terrified of "communism" because of the USSR.. But if you noticed, that wasn't true socialism. It was community without a soul and the people were not in charge. A few powerful people were and everyone suffered for it. I did my first research paper on ancient societies and I discovered that in "Old Europe" in Neolithic times, the cultures were peaceful and worshiped a mother goddess... they lived communally and they realized in their religion and way of life that everything was connected. Our problem today is that we don't realize that. Because we fail to realize that we are all apart of one great thing, we have caused global warming, rising cancer rates (we pollute the earth for profit, like in PA, they dumped chemicals in the area I lived and so many people there have gotten cancer) and war, of course. We're obsessed with shallow stuff like achieving wealth at the expense of everyone else. If we could get back to this idea of "unity" that our ancestors held, we would be so much better off. Obama always talks about unity and change and that's one of the major reasons I like him. He hates the corrupt way Washington works. I think he is just what we need because the only way to change the path our society is walking on, is to change the way we think and do things. Obama is at least a start. And.. yes ancient people weren't always peaceful.. Humans will usually use violence only for survival (with the exception of the random psychopath).. Humans are not naturally violent or "bad". We never have been, but that's a myth that underlies modern society. That man is ultimately bad and that we need all this violent foreign policy...Why are all these people falling trhough the cracks in our society??? Its because our society is a lonely and selfish one. So many people today are depressed and lonely and thats because our society revolves around shallow objectives like the pursuit of wealth. You can look that up, I believe there is a decent amount of info on it out there. I don't know about distribution of wealth.. I think our society is the fucked up part.. I don't think giving people who dont want to help themselves help is a way to fix things. But there are people out there who do want to do better and I dont mind if my tax money helps them. (like my friend.) It would be cool if they offered super cheap daycare at all public universities. I wouldn't mind if my tax money paid for that. Like if students maintain a 3.0 GPA they can continue to use the daycare.

4. National Security: You know where I stand of this. Obama thinks you can talk to rogue nations and reason with terrorists. He also believes if we pack up and come home the world will be happy with us. This is where he shows the most delusions. The United States has and continues to be the largest provider of Foreign Aid in the world and they still hate us. Our Embassies in Tehran and Kuwait were attacked, Barracks in Beirut destroyed and the USS Cole bombed. We did nothing… but they still hate us and continue to attack us. Force is the only thing our enemy understands. Now that we are about to win in Iraq he wants to pull us out… wait, now the polls start the favor the war and Obama decides to maybe not pull troops out right away.

Lets face it. If Obama wasn’t a young black man he wouldn't even be a blip on the radar. The democratic nominee race would have been between Clinton and Edwards."

4. People hate us because of our foriegn policy. While we may give foreign aid to countries, we also bulldoze over them and bully them. For like 400 years now, the "white man" has been bullying everybody else, taking their land and trying to change their cultures. Our culture is NOT superior to anyone elses and our problem is that we believe it is. We force it on everyone else and THAT is where this hate has come from. Like I said in my previous paragraph.. this theme of "division" perpetuates everywhere in western culture. Instead of seeing the world as something unified yet full of differences, we see only black and white.. democracy and western culture=good, everything else=bad. It isn't right and our problems are all because of it. If we don't change how we do things, the hate will continue. That's why I'm voting for Obama. He brings something totally new to the table. I think we need someone young with new ideas to take charge and change things.

By the way I was voting for McCain until the first time I watched Obama make a speech. That's what changed my mind. Then I looked into his beliefs and policies and I'm really for him now. I thought Mccain would be good for us, especcially because we are military, but we don't need more of the same old politics that got us in this crap to begin with. I am so hoping Obama really will do things differently.

AND don't say he's unexperienced.. Abraham Lincoln had the same credentials as Obama and he was an awesome president.
